I, genuinely never expected that I would be able to raise the money I needed during a very difficult situation. Whatever money I had, I had already given for an emergency, and suddenly the normal way I had of managing things was gone.
At that point, there was one thing I knew I could do: trade.
Trading is the skill I have, and Breakout gave me the opportunity to actually use that skill when I needed it most. I traded, earned my payout, and was able to use that money for a very important emergency. I won't go into the personal details, but receiving that payout at that particular moment meant much more to me than simply making trading profits.
And the payout was extremely fast. That matters.
I've seen so many prop firms where everything looks great until you actually want to get paid. Then suddenly there are delays, complicated conditions, consistency rules, restrictions, or some other nonsense standing between the trader and their payout.
That is one of the biggest reasons I appreciate Breakout.
There are no unnecessary consistency rules or ridiculous restrictions designed to make trading more complicated than it needs to be. You don't have to sit there worrying that one profitable day was "too profitable" or that your normal trading style will suddenly violate some strange condition.
Even things like news trading aren't unnecessarily restricted. As long as you respect the actual risk and drawdown rules of your account, you have the freedom to trade.
And that's exactly what a prop firm should feel like.
For me, it almost feels like changing your trading terminal or broker. You already know how to trade. You don't need to completely reinvent your strategy just because you've joined a prop firm. You move your trading to Breakout, respect their core risk limits, and trade the way you know how to trade.
That's what “for traders, by traders” should mean.
My trading ability was mine, but Breakout provided the capital structure and opportunity that allowed me to turn that ability into something useful during a moment when I genuinely needed it. That is something I am extremely grateful for.
The one improvement I would really love to see is more trading symbols, especially many more cryptocurrencies and CFDs. Give traders an even bigger selection of markets to use their strategies on. I hope that's something Breakout continues expanding in the future.
I've looked at many prop firms, and I sometimes wonder how some of them receive such incredible reviews when traders have to navigate a maze of rules just to trade and receive their money.
