Lost a lot of trust in Apex after how they handled profitable traders
I used Apex for a substantial period of time and had multiple PA accounts with them. I successfully traded the accounts and received payouts, so this review is coming from someone who actually used the service beyond just buying evaluations.
My opinion of the company changed significantly once I became consistently profitable.
I was eventually placed on what Apex referred to as PA probation. During that period I was unable to purchase new evaluation accounts, while my existing accounts were apparently being monitored for compliance and possible live-account consideration.
One of the biggest concerns for me was that Apex's PA accounts were still simulated. Despite spending considerable time looking into it, I could not find clear examples of traders actually being transitioned from profitable simulated PA accounts into genuine live funded accounts. That made me increasingly uncomfortable with the business model, because the company itself is effectively responsible for paying profitable simulated traders.
Around the same period, one of my payout requests sat unapproved for roughly a week when my previous experience was that approvals generally took no more than a couple of days. Combined with the probation and restrictions being placed on my account, it seriously damaged my confidence in the company.
After taking my most recent payouts, I decided to take the maximum payout amounts due to waivering trust with Apex. The remaining buffers in my PA accounts were substantially smaller. I subsequently had a bad stretch of trading and lost the accounts. I take full responsibility for those trading losses β€” Apex did not cause me to blow the accounts.
What frustrated me was what happened afterward. Because I had been restricted from purchasing new evaluations while on probation, once those PA accounts were gone I effectively had no path forward with Apex.
I contacted support explaining the situation and received what appeared to be a generic/template response almost immediately. The response told me that I could continue trading my existing accounts and discussed monitoring for compliance/live-account candidacy β€” even though my message specifically explained that I no longer had any accounts. It gave me the impression that nobody had meaningfully read what I wrote.
That experience was the final straw for me.
To be clear, Apex did pay me previously, and I am not claiming that my trading losses were their responsibility. My issue is with the way profitable traders can apparently be restricted, monitored and placed into a different category while still trading simulated accounts, combined with poor communication when something goes wrong.
For a company whose entire business depends on traders trusting that the rules and payout process will remain fair once they become profitable, I think transparency and responsive support need to be significantly better.
After my experience, I no longer trust Apex enough to put more money into evaluations or rebuild accounts with them.
