Funded account closed because of a poorly disclosed risk rule

Account closed over a risk rule that was not clearly disclosed
I had a $50,000 Phoenix account with Upcomers and my account was closed because of their β€œMax Trade Loss” rule.
My daily drawdown was still within the allowed limit (3.82% out of 4%) and my total drawdown was only 1.77% out of 6%. However, they closed the entire account because one trade had a gross P&L of -$1,576.80, exceeding their $1,500 maximum loss per trade by only $76.80.
My main issue is not that they enforced a rule. My issue is that this rule was not clearly and prominently disclosed to me as a hard account-breaching rule before trading the account.
The dashboard showed a net loss of -$1,564.11, while their internal system used a different figure of -$1,576.80 to determine the breach.
After contacting support, they explained the calculation as:
Gross P&L: -$1,576.80
Swap: +$14.19
Commission: -$1.50
Net P&L: -$1,564.11
They then confirmed that the account was permanently failed because the gross figure exceeded 3% of the initial balance.
I asked for a manual review and even requested a goodwill reset considering that the limit was exceeded by only $76.80. They refused and told me that the only option was to purchase a paid reset.
For a prop firm, risk rules that can instantly terminate a funded account should be extremely clear, prominent and impossible to miss before someone purchases and trades the account.
I spent a significant amount of time trading this account and was working toward a payout, only to discover that this additional per-trade loss restriction could terminate the entire account even while both my daily and overall drawdown limits were still respected.
This experience seriously damaged my trust in Upcomers. I strongly recommend that anyone considering them read every single rule in detail, especially the Max Trade Loss rules, rather than relying only on the headline drawdown limits shown for the account.

Hello Juan,
We’re sorry to hear about what happened with your Phoenix account. We understand your concern about the account being closed because one trade exceeded the Max Trade Loss limit, even though your daily and overall drawdown remained within their respective limits.
We also recognize your concerns about how the rule was presented and the difference between the gross and net P&L figures shown during the review. We understand why you would want more information about a rule that can affect the status of an account, as well as how the loss was calculated.
We’d genuinely like the opportunity to review the details of your case and provide further clarification regarding the Max Trade Loss rule and the account closure. Please contact our support team at [email protected] with your account ID and a link to this review so we can look into this for you and provide a detailed explanation.
Kind regards,
Ann – Upcomers Team

Imagine paying for a 90% account and…

Imagine paying for a 90% account and getting payed for 50% from now on. Funny thing is i trade the sane as my first account but that was a smaller amount and got approved and now all of a sudden its lowered to 50? They find any excuse to not pay full because i asked upfront and im a VIP if i could do some things and they tell you yess just to cut your payement short.and dont forget im vip and getting ignored for over 3 weeks already

Hello Feli,
We’re sorry to hear that your payout experience left you feeling this way. We understand your concern about having a 90% payout share changed to 50%, especially after your previous account was approved and you had asked about your trading approach beforehand.
We also understand your concern about not receiving a response for over three weeks, particularly as a VIP trader. We know how important it is to receive timely communication when you have questions about your account and payout.
We’d genuinely like the opportunity to review the details of your case, including the guidance you received and the reason for the payout adjustment, so we can provide a clear explanation. Please contact our support team at [email protected] with your account reference or ID so we can look into this for you.
Kind regards,

Upcomers is not a scam, upcomers is for real traders with real edge.

Upcomers in my opinion is the best leading propfirm, they didn't ask me to do this, I'm saying my honest review.
Upcomers is the best of the best propfirms i have ever seen, their rules made me polite trader which i mean they made me stick to a trading pattern and habits, i got paid out 2 times till now and the third is coming and i have the proof for that.
They pay and they are honest, you just need to follow the rules correctly and have your edge in trading and it must be a good edge not gambling-style.
Thank you so much upcomers for such a good prices and a good rules to build a real trader.
